Vivo T4x 5G First Impressions Review: A New Competitor in the Budget Segment
Vivo has recently launched the Vivo T4x 5G in India, building upon the success of last year's T3x 5G. This new model brings several improvements, including a MediaTek Dimensity processor and a huge 6,500 mAh battery with fast-charging support. In addition, Vivo has revamped the design, adding an eye-catching Aura Light Ring that glows purple when notifications are received, a feature that enhances the device's appeal.
Priced at Rs 13,999, the Vivo T4x 5G aims to challenge rivals such as the Galaxy M16 and Redmi 14C 5G. After spending a few days with the phone, here's a first look at its performance and features.
The Good: Strong Performance and Impressive Features
Vivo has equipped the T4x 5G with a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, which offers a noticeable upgrade over the previous Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor in the T3x 5G. This chipset is also found in the Vivo V40e, a mid-range device priced at Rs 28,999, making the T4x 5G quite competitive in its price range.
In my initial tests, the phone handled everyday tasks and casual gaming smoothly. The device is available with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with the option to expand the RAM virtually up to 16GB for better multitasking performance.
The 120Hz Full HD+ display is another highlight, offering smooth scrolling and an enhanced user experience. Additionally, the Vivo T4x 5G comes with an IP64 rating, providing better dust and water resistance compared to many competitors that only offer an IP54 rating.
For photography, the T4x 5G features a dual-camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor that delivers detailed shots. The 8MP front camera produces natural-looking selfies. Plus, the Aura Light feature enhances low-light photos, making them appear more refined.
The phone also boasts an impressive 6,500 mAh battery, the largest in its segment, which supports 44W fast charging. It can charge the phone from 0% to 40% in just 30 minutes.
The Bad: A Few Limitations
Despite the impressive features, the Vivo T4x 5G does have a few drawbacks. The glossy finish of the phone makes it slippery and prone to fingerprints, especially when used without a case. However, Vivo includes a case in the box to help address this issue.
Another downside is the lack of expandable storage. While the phone supports virtual RAM expansion, it doesn't have a microSD card slot, which is often expected in devices at this price point.
The Vivo T4x 5G also uses an LCD panel, whereas competitors like the Galaxy M16 offer a Super AMOLED display, which provides more vibrant colors and better contrast. This might disappoint users who prioritize display quality.
The X-Factor: A Unique Design and Strong Battery
One of the standout features of the Vivo T4x 5G is its design, particularly the glossy back panel with the glowing Aura Light. While it lacks some advanced features, such as an ultra-wide camera and microSD support, the phone still delivers a great overall experience for its price.
